Ryan and Sara Hall at the Santa Rosa Marathon/Half Marathon!
Come meet Ryan Hall and Sara (Bei) Hall as they talk about their great charity program, the Hall Steps Foundation. O, and cheer on Sara's mom, Karen, as she runs her first-ever half marathon! Expect to see the Halls by the finish line around 9:30-10:30am. The Steps Foundation was founded by Ryan and Sara to fight world poverty and hunger. Through their world class running they've been able to spread the word about some of those most-needy in the world, and are doing their part to take a step towards a brighter tomorrow. Take a moment to check out their website and, if you can, donate to their great cause.
Sara (Bei) Hall is a native of Santa Rosa, where she ran for the Montgomery HS Vikings. While there, she became the first girl in California State History to win four straight XC titles. She also won the HS Footlocker National Cross Country Championships, where she met future husband Ryan. They both attended Stanford University, and while there Sara was a multiple-time All-American. Currently, she is a top middle-distance runner and steeple-chaser for ASICS, and has represented the United States of America at both the World Indoor Championships and the World Cross Country Championships.
Ryan Hall was an all-star runner while a prep at Big Bear HS here in California, before joining Sara at Stanford. There Ryan won the NCAA 5,000m title, as well as earning a bunch of other All-American honors. Now representing ASICS, Hall is currently one of America's best long-distance road-racers. He is the current American Record-Holder in the half-marathon, with a blistering time of 59:43. He is also one of the world's best marathoners, sitting second on the all-time American list (2:06:17), set at the (aided) Boston Marathon. He has been 4th at NYCM, 3rd at Boston, 5th at London, and 10th in the Olympic Games Marathon.
